Athletic Scholarships

Listed below are the descriptions and requirements for each individual scholarship. Each Scholarship fund has ranked, in order of scoring importance, the eligibility criteria specific to that fund.

Bernice Barabash Sports Scholarship (Hockey)

The Bernice Barabash Sports Scholarship provides two scholarships, one for a qualified student in grades 7, 8, or 9 and one for a qualified student in grades 10, 11 or 12. The award recognizes youth that participate in the sport while maintaining high academic standards in preparation for future educational enrichment.

This scholarship is non-renewable.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a student in grades 7, 8, 9 or 10, 11, 12

• Must hold a minimum 3.0 grade point average

• Must play hockey during the 2008-2009 school

year.

• Must live in Jackson County or surrounding

communities that do not have ice arenas in their area.

• Plan to attend an accredited college or university

program, or vocational/technical institute

 

Selection Criteria:

Selection of scholarship recipients will be made by a lottery draw of qualified applicants

Scholarship Awards:

Two $1,000 awards: one for a student in grade 7, 8 or 9 and one for a student in grade 10, 11 or 12. Prior recipients are not eligible to apply.
