What is Project Access?
Project Access is a program that began providing health care services to eligible Jackson County residents at low to no cost in March 2007. After only 18 months of program implementation, $2,000,000 of health services have been provided at no cost to patients enrolled in the program. Project Access is not a health insurance and exists because of the leadership of the Jackson County Medical Society along with the partnership of Allegiance Health, the Jackson Community Foundation, LifeWays, Community Medication Assistance Program, Central Michigan 2-1-1, Center for Family Health, and United Way of Jackson County.
This program aims to improve the health of our community by providing health care to low-income individuals who do not have coverage and do not qualify for public assistance. Enrolled patients have access to primary care physicians, specialty care through a referral process, services provided by Allegiance Health, and prescription medications at low or no cost through the Community Medication Assistance Program.
